Eva Mendes in Vogue Milan Fashion show

The American actress Eva Mendes’s in-production film “Queen of the South”, by Venezuelan filmmaker Jonathan Jakubowicz, was forced to abandon production, after receiving death threats while being filmed on location in the city of Culiacan in Sinaloa, northern Mexico, according to reports.

Eva Mendes had her first big screen break in the award-winning Hollywood film “Training Day”. Her other memorable roles are in ‘Stuck on You’, ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico’, ‘Hitch’, ‘Ghost Rider’, ‘We Own the Night’ and ‘The Women’.

Eva Mendes has appeared in commercials for Gushers, Revlon, and an ad for Calvin Klein's Secret Obsession perfume. Mendes was involved PETA’s anti-fur campaign. Mendes is an international spokeswoman for Revlon Cosmetics, joining celebrity actresses and glamour models like Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and Cindy Crawford. In October, she toured various Harrods’s stores in Europe to promote Calvin Klein's Seductive Comfort line of lingerie.

Eva Mendes was recently appointed Magnum Ice cream's Pleasure Ambassador, and will be working along with their 'Professor of Pleasure' ‘who will indulge in the study of world's largest study into the causes of happiness’. She is really happy to be the Pleasure Ambassador because she is “a huge chocolate fan”.

Maxim magazine had ranked Mendes at #7 in its 2007 Hot 100 issue. Mendes was voted as No. 1 in the 2009 edition of's Top 99 Most Desirable Women. She was No. 4 in the 2008 edition.

Mendes was announced as the international face of Australia's 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty event in July 2008. In September 2008, Mendes announced she was launching a line of bed linens.

In 2008, Mendes actively supported Barack Obama’s Presidential election campaign.
