Kate Winslet, one of the world's most influential people

Time magazine has now named Kate Winslet as one of the world's most influential people, alongside US President Barack Obama, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt, Penélope Cruz, Zac Efron, Tina Fey, Tom Hanks, Jay Leno, and A.R. Rahman, M.I.A., and golfer Tiger Woods.

Kate Winslet, 33, is noted for having performed the roles of diverse characters, notably for her critically acclaimed performances in Sense and Sensibility, Titanic, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Little Children, and Revolutionary Road. She won an Academy Award for the Best Actress for her performance in The Reader.

Kate Winslet has been nominated for six Academy Awards and she is the youngest actor of either sex to receive six nominations. Earlier, at the age of 22, she became the youngest actress to receive two Oscar nominations. She has won awards from the Screen Actors Guild, British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and was nominated for an Emmy.
