Miss California Carrie Prejean topless

Miss USA runner up and reigning Miss California Carrie Prejean seems to have courted more trouble as her leaked topless picture has threatened to strip her of her Miss California title.

Prejean, it is speculated, lost the Miss USA crown because of her views on same sex marriage, expressed by her in response to a question on the topic during the competition.

"My comments defending traditional marriage have led to intimidation tactics that seek to undermine my reputation and somehow silence me and my beliefs, as if opinion is only a one-way street," she said, as Us magazine quoted her. She went on, "I am a Christian, and I am a model. Models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos."

According to Prejean, the snaps were taken when she was a 17-year-old, and that the shot was meant to be used in a portfolio, hoping to become a lingerie model. She claims the snap was leaked to a tabloid website to humiliate her. The organizers of the pageant reportedly say she breached her contract by keeping her topless photos secret. They also say Carrie Prejean also breached her contract by appearing unauthorized in commercials.

Last week Carrie Prejean announced that she would star in new $1.5m ad campaign funded by the National Organization for Marriage, a group that is opposed to same-sex marriage, According to news reports.
