Mallika Sherawat to act in Hollywood film on Barack Obama

Mallika Sherawat, making waves in the US after getting a residence permit arranged by Jackie Chan and bagging the lead role in Jennifer Lynch's film Hissss, is to act in a film based on Barack Obama, tentatively titled “Love, Barack”, by Doug McHenry. Sherawat’s role is that of the fictional character Aretha Gupta, inspired by the life and story of Kamala Harris, the District Attorney of San Francisco, who was cited by the New York Times to be among the seventeen most likely women candidates to be elected the first female President of the United States. Kamala is the daughter of Dr. Shyamala Gopalan (a Tamil Indian mother from Chennai) and Donald Harris (a Jamaican American father Stanford University economics professor).

Mallika Sherawat’s Tweet on Twitter reads, "Kamala is a great inspiration and to play a part inspired by her is an actress's dream. I will B 'shadowing' Harris to research my new movie. It's an amazing role. I'm working hard at. I'm ready…”
