Elin Nordegren, wife of professional golfer Tiger Woods, was born in Stockholm, Sweden. Nordegren worked on odd jobs to finance her studies. She started modeling in 2000, and appeared on the cover of Cafe Sport magazine in the summer of 2000.

Nordegren took a job in a Stockholm clothing store, Champagne, where she met Mia Parnevik, wife of Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik, who hired Nordegren as the nanny to their children. The job required her to move to U.S.A. She was introduced to Woods during the 2001 British Open, as he had been asking for a year to be introduced to Nordegren, who was seeing someone else at the time. In November 2003, Woods and Nordegren attended the Presidents Cup tournament in South Africa and became officially engaged.

They were married in October 2004 in Barbados. The guests who attended the marriage included Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and Bill Gates.

In December 2009, her marriage to Woods was the subject of extensive media coverage after Woods admitted to infidelity, which had been revealed following his vehicle accident near the family's Florida home.
