Elena Dementieva wins over Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak

In the French Open third-round matches, the Russian fifth seed Elena Dementieva, who was a losing finalist here in 2004, pulled out a grueling 6-7 (2/7), 6-3, 6-4 win over Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak. Dementieva sank to her knees in relief at the end of the 2-hour-43-minute match. She will have to tackle the South African qualifier Chanelle Scheepers, who is the first woman from South Africa to reach the last 16 here since Amanda Coetzer did it in 1997.
